School violence is a prevalent issue that occurs worldwide, transcending all levels of education, even in Vietnam. It is crucial to acknowledge that school violence is not limited to solely male students, but it also involves female students. Furthermore, it is not just confined to conflicts between students, but extends to encompass instances of violence between students and teachers, as well as teachers and students. Acts of violence can manifest in various forms, including physical violence such as beating or pushing, verbal violence like threats or slander, and mental violence in the form of ostracism, shunning, or defamation.

In our nation, a significant number of recent student-related incidents involve physical altercations and verbal abuse, often originating from minor disputes, derogatory exchanges on social media, or influenced by peer pressure. However, the repercussions of such incidents can extend far beyond ordinary conflicts, sometimes resulting in dreadful acts of violence that leave the public bewildered.

On February 15, 2022, a tragic incident occurred at Phong An Secondary School located in Phong Dien District, Thua Thien Hue. Two students, H., a 6th grade student, and C., a 7th grade student, got into a physical altercation in the school's common toilet. During the fight, Y., another student from the same class as C., rushed to his friend's defense. Shockingly, Y. brandished a paper knife, attempting to scare H. However, the scuffle escalated, resulting in the paper knife stabbing H. in the abdomen. H. was immediately rushed to Hue Central Hospital Facility 2, but sadly, due to excessive blood loss, he did not survive.
Instances of student fights and the subsequent sharing of such incidents on social media platforms or the occurrence of tragic deaths like the aforementioned have caused great confusion amongst the public. These events have left many parents feeling concerned, insecure, frustrated, and angry. Educational environments are typically perceived as places that uphold fundamental characteristics such as education, respect, safety, trust, openness, and friendliness. They are meant to instill humane values, cultivate good qualities, and uphold high standards in individuals.
According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Education and Training, as presented in a 2019 conference by the Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, and Children (now the Committee for Culture and Education) in collaboration with the Institute for Legislative Studies, an average of 1,600 cases of student fights occur nationwide each school year. These fights take place both inside and outside of schools, averaging around 5 cases per day. Furthermore, it was reported that approximately 5,200 students engaged in a physical altercation, and out of 11,000 students, one student faced expulsion from school due to such incidents.
