Fire prevention and fighting and school safety are one of the important tasks of educational institutions. To carry out this task, on September 21, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has directed schools to coordinate with the fire prevention and fighting and rescue police to organize propaganda activities, disseminate laws and knowledge on fire prevention and fighting.

One of the important activities is to organize drills and training for workers, students, and trainees on how to provide first aid when accidents occur due to fire and explosion; training and instructing how to escape when fire and explosion occur to have safe escape skills. These activities help to improve the awareness and skills of responding to incidents.
In addition, schools must also equip full fire prevention and fighting equipment and make signs of emergency exits, stairs, and emergency doors… easy to see, and easy to read in both Vietnamese and English. Schools do not lock the doors of stairs, or emergency exits when there are teachers, staff, students and trainees studying and living in the school.
In addition, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City require schools to study and integrate the content of legal education, knowledge of fire prevention and fighting and rescue into the curriculum, and extracurricular activities at educational institutions, suitable for each level and grade. This is a measure to educate and train workers, students and trainees to comply with the regulations and laws on school safety.
The leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that the principal is responsible for the fire prevention and fighting work at the unit. The principal must check and supervise regularly the implementation of measures to prevent and stop the risk of accidents due to fire and explosion. The principal must also report timely to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City on the situation and results of fire prevention and fighting work at the school.
